In spite of the name, Juazeiro do Norte is actually in the far South of Ceará. Equally distant from Northeastern capital cities, i.e. Fortaleza, Teresina, Natal and Recife, Juazeiro and the neighbouring cities Crato and Barbalha appear as a genuine regional hub. The area is famous for its agricultural produce, handicraft, culture and history. Padre Cícero and Lampião are two of the most famous local figures.
