Santa Teresa oversees the harbour and the Varjota district from the top of the hill separating Fortaleza from Praia do Futuro. A couple of restaurants conveniently located on Rua Mirante offer both a pleasant sight and a cool atmosphere at night. Some of the pictures presented here were actually made in 1985 and 1986, when houses on the hilltop were still scarce. People there tried to survive in extremely harsh conditions, without piped running water and power. Some were even living in tents! |
